Weather was dry, but very cold and very windy. The efforts of our players received much media attention in advance of and during the Event. Radio and TV spots gave us good promo for our Charity, and a live remote Saturday morning featured interviews and live footage as well. As we have realized “the power of the dollar” at our Food Bank, our cash donations have risen over the years and pounds of canned food declines. Normally, this is a good trend because our local Food Bank turns every dollar donated into 9-times the buying power. The total weight of our pounds of food donated was actually up this year, due to many good Samaritans. None bigger than 4-year old Isiah Barr who got the idea to pull his “little red wagon” door-to-door in his neighborhood asking for donations to The Food Bank. His efforts yielded 110 pounds of food. Many other individuals brought extra cans of food also, and all were welcomed. Additional cash donations came from Brad Zimmerman, Gary Nail, Joyle Deering, Ben Powell, Bud Johnson, Jeff Ash, Martin Norris, Catherine Nielsen, Drew Nietzel, John Green, & Wayne Forest. Additional Merchandise donations (for extra CTPs, Prizes, and “Frog-Throws”) came from Gary Nail, Hats-by-Hailey, David Zucconi, John Green, Rob Maddox, Johnny Slauf of “Quic’ Stic’ ”, Michael Barr, and Wayne Forest. Additional Invaluable T.D. duties and experience came from Michael Barr, who was there from dawn-till-dark full-time. Couldn’t have done it without ya, Barr. Our “Ice Bowl” in Tulsa has had a great positive impact on our local Food Bank for TEN consecutive years. I have been your Tournament Director for all of them; and am proud to remain so. Wayne Forest
Isiah Barr can't believe his cart is overflowing with food he collected for our local Food Bank...
...but he's got it under control. |
