WHAT  A  SUCCESS  !

   In assimilating all the Results  -and-  Smiles  -and-  Donations  -and-  Players  -and-  50-cent-Mulligans
   -and-   Cans-of-Food   -and-   Free-Giveaways  -and-  Ace-Runs  -and-  Pars  -and-   Birdies
-and-  Scorecards   -and-   Side-Bets  -and-   Friendly-Groups  -and-  Scribbled-Notes  -and-    ‘Flights’-Mulligan-Totals
from Nov.,Dec., Jan.   -and-   Ordering Discs and Clothing  -and-  Making-Banners   -and-   Phonin’  -and-  Faxin’
-and-  E-Mailin’   -and-  etc.  brings me to one  strong  conclusion :
These individuals that play this Sport of Disc Golf are some of the Best People I know ! ! !

There are SO MANY to THANK for the success of the 2008 Tulsa Ice Bowl … I’ll just start rambling through them …
The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma > for letting us help-them help-others.  Cindy , Barbie , Carol , and
Sara Jo are always so upbeat about our Tournament.  Steve and Kathy Ward had the Club Website looking “cool”.
The Media was second-to-none. Both pre-event and live-remotes during. An extra Big Thanks to both David Wise and
Jose Mendoza who helped cover some of the in-studio time and interviews during the week before. And to Jerry Stacey ,
who was able to step-in for some of the live-remote camera time when I was getting too busy. Through all this effort ,
many new Players surfaced to take part … some of whom had never attended an organized Disc Golf tournament.
Through this exposure , our Sport gained big:
…Knowledge of  Disc Golf as a recreation and how the sport is played.
…Appreciation of this yearly Event scheduled into mid-Winter , outdoors in Oklahoma.
…Awareness of our local Food Bank’s needs and capability to feed thousands of people.
We are all (including Disc Golfers) just concerned citizens doing the right thing out there. 114 Players entered in to play
two rounds of Disc Golf. Many bought those “extra-shot” Mulligans , which really drove-up our totals. I started using one-player ,
two-round scorecards which is handy to let participants combine-into groups with their friends , or their close-competitors ,
or their side-betters , etc. All in the interest of a Great Charity , and a nice coupla-rounds of Disc Golf. And everyone realizes
that even though a Food Bank Charity Drive is our serious intention ; the tournament itself “leans” more to a light-hearted and
good-natured atmosphere. A prime example would be Scott “FurDog” Schumacher who once again attends and plays
Disc-Golf in his pajamas. Some “extra goodies” and merchandise were added in and given away in additional C-T-P throws.
Some unique “penguin” trophies were made and donated by Dan Bougher.

Adding in to Prizes and Merchandise > Scott “FurDog” Schumacher ; Evan McKee (WAFDA) ;
Wayne Forest ; Dan Bougher ; Cory Briley ; Chris Hutchinson ; United Ford
-  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -
Adding in to dollars-donated > Wal-Mart ; Marie (aka Ms.FurDog) (aka Li’l Moose) ; David Wise ; Marq Lewis ;
Hunter Boren ; Gary Nail ; Steve Blendowski ; John & Carla Barton ; Dale Patterson ; Dave King ; Jay Slack ;
Sean Young ; Tim & Marci Joha ; Cindy Stevens (of the Food Bank) ; Wayne Forest ; and an “anonymous drive-by donor” .
AND that list is populated by EVERY PLAYER who entered in for two rounds ; even more so by all those who bought and used Mulligans.
Adding to that list are ALL  players who enter in “Flights” events during November , December , and January. (No matter what weather)

As the attached spreadsheet shows , the Results of our efforts were enormous.
566 pounds of Food   /   $3,146.00 of Money   /   Tons of Pride and Respect

I will return once again as Tournament Director of the Tulsa Ice Bowl in 2009.
… with a great sense of pride
